Introvert vs. Extrovert, Different Design Needs

I recently re-took the Myers Briggs personality assessment. I already knew I was introverted but I couldn’t remember my other traits for the life of me. It turns out I’m INFJ. Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Judging. Have you taken the test recently? It brought so much clarity to everything, especially to how and why I decorate my home the way I do. Introverts need to spend time alone to recharge so they often create little spaces like reading nooks or areas away from all the action. Aside from our bedroom the spot above is my absolute favorite to unwind in.

Redesign

In interior redesign my job is to look at what I’m already working with in a space and improve upon it. Not necessarily go out and buy new things to make the space better. I’ve failed to remember that recently in my own space and it pains me. It’s a fantastic concept really, that we can all benefit from. Purchase less and simply move around what we already have to create an entirely new atmosphere.

Quick Flip Bedroom

So, last week I decided to cruise around my local Home Goods. (I'm sure we all know how this ends). I found some of my favorite DW brand candles, and then made my way through bedding, lighting, and then the wall art. As someone who practices intentional decorating and conscious consumerism I am a strong proponent of purchasing art from lesser known artists making a living honing their craft, or artwork from thrift or antique stores that has a mysterious past but admittedly every now and then I stumble upon something at Home Goods or Target that speaks to me.

Honesty

I think it's important that we start off the year with honesty. I am guilty of comparing what I have to others. It's part of why I started this blog. I followed countless home design blogs and instead of feeling inspired I felt inadequate. I wasn't really sure what to do and I'd sit there scrolling saying "highlight reel" over and over again to myself as I looked at their photos in an attempt to remind myself that that's what social media is.

Whew, we're back!

What a month December was. I hunkered down and earned my Home Staging and Redesign Certificate, almost bought a cabin, then I didn't and then I almost did again and then I didn't. And then of course there's the hustle and bustle of buying Christmas presents, baking every cookie you possibly can find the time for and decorating every inch of the house for the holidays. Oh yeah and then in between all that you still have to squeeze in real work!

An Autumn Adventure

This past Monday we went on our yearly adventure to visit Terrain in Glen Mills, PA. It's about a 2.5 hour drive for us and always worth every minute of the trip. We typically venture up that way anytime between the start of fall and before Christmas. If you haven't visited any of Terrain's locations I highly recommend it.
